Monash Law Dinner
Honouring the achievements of Professor Louis Waller AO
Alumni, former staff, current staff and students, members of the profession and medical community came together to farewell a stalwart of Monash University's Law School on 29 November, 2000.
Campbell McComas, BA (Hons), LLB, Hon Dlitt, led the proceedings as Master of Ceremonies at the Grand Hyatt function in honour of Profesor Louis Waller AO. Guests were treated to Campbell's unique form of entertainment as he walked onto the stage as Laurie Brownlee (a fictional staff member at Monash Law) and guided the audience through the ‘untold’ history of Professor Waller.
Two moving tributes from The Honourable Justice Michael Kirby AC CMG and Professor Bob Williams highlighted not only the major achievements of Professor Walers 35 years as a legal scholar and community servant, but also his personal traits, such as generosity, compassion and humility.
The event was a chance for old friends to get together. Graduates from across the years took the opportunity to reunite. The event is one of many planned activities for our alumni.
To further commemorate Professor Waller’s services, and to ensure the continued development of the Law School, Monash Law established the Louis Waller Chair of Law.
