Essay Competition2008 Essay Competition The ASLP Essay Competition is held annually. It is designed to encourage original research and writing in legal theory and philosophy of law by early career scholars around the world. The competition is open to students currently enrolled in a graduate degree (Master or Doctoral) program in any discipline. (Graduates in one discipline reading for a first degree in a different discipline are not eligible). Submissions may be on any topic in legal theory and the philosophy of law. Essay should be in English and must not exceed 10,000 (ten thousand) words. The author of the winning essay will receive a cash prize of AU$1,000 plus a contribution of up to AU$500 towards the cost of attendance at the Society’s annual conference to present the essay as a paper. The winning essay will be considered for publication in the Australian Journal of Legal Philosophy. The closing date for submissions is 31 January 2008. The winner will be chosen by a panel appointed by the executive committee of the Society, which reserves the right not to award the prize if no submission of sufficient quality is received. Entries should be sent to the secretary of the Society, Dr John Morss. They should be submitted electronically as an email attachment, preferably in MS Word.
