Castan Centre In House Internship Program

The in-house internship program provides community-minded Monash Law students the opportunity to assist the centre in developing and implementing its suite of human rights programs. In particular, interns may be required to:

  • Assist Castan Centre Directors with research on human rights projects.
  • Write articles for Castan Centre newsletters.
  • Assist with preparation of funding proposals.
  • Undertake other writing and research tasks.
  • Help to organise events such as public lectures and the annual human rights conference.
  • Undertake a modest amount of administrative work.

Full time Internships - Winter 2008

Two weeks from Monday 30 June 2008 to Friday 11 July 2008.

Part-Time Internships - Semester 2, 2008

One day per week for 12 weeks from the week commencing Monday 14 July 2008 until the week ending Friday 10 October 2008.  Students will not be expected to volunteer during the mid-semester break.

Deadline for applications 

5pm, Friday 16 May 2008.

Selection Criteria

To be considered for a Castan Centre In-House Internship, students must:

  • Be currently studying the Bachelor of Laws (or any Bachelor of Laws double degree) at Monash University.
  • Have completed International Human Rights (LAW4155) or Human Rights in Australian Law (LAW4172).
  • Have achieved a minimum credit (60%) average across their law studies.

Interns will be selected on the strength of their CV and cover letter.  There will be no interviews.
