Prizes and Judging

Short listed essays are assessed by a panel of judges from the Monash University Castan Centre for Human Rights Law.

The awards available to those outstanding essays received:

• 1st Prize: $1000
• 2nd Prize: $500
• 3rd Prize: $250
• Certificate of commendation for outstanding submissions

Each year an outstanding school is honoured as a Castan Centre for Human Rights Law School of Excellence

Winners, their families, and nominated teachers are invited to attend the Great Law Week Debate in May and see some of the top debaters, QC’s and experts in the field argue the same topic as the essay competition.

Winners are presented with their awards at the end of the debate and all winners are invited to a VIP cocktail function following the event.
