Student organised internship endorsement process

In order to obtain funding through the faculty's Student Travel Fund (STF) for a student organised internship, you must meet the student eligibility criteria and have your internship endorsed by the faculty. Interships must be located interstate or overseas and be no less than four consecutive weeks in total to be eligible for endorsement and funding.

You can send both your intership endorsement form and your funding application/s at the same time.

The Director International and other relevent faculty staff must be satisfied that the host organisation will provide a quality internship program that will add value to your law studies and can ensure a safe working environment free from discrimination or exploitation.

You must obtain the following information from your host organisation and fill out the Monash Law School Internship Endorsement Form [PDF]

  • Company name, address and ABN (or equivalent business registration details)
  • Location of internship
  • Contact details for staff member responsible for Monash intern and/or work supervisor
  • Outline of tasks to be performed by the intern
  • Outline of any training/induction programs
  • Relevance to the study of law
  • Duration of internship and working hours (must be no less than four consectutive weeks in total)
  • Any financial support provided to the intern including salary, grants, accommodation, travel expenses etc

In order to have you internship endorsed you must also:

  • confirm that you meet the faculty's student eligibility criteria
  • have the ability to fund all associated internship costs in the event that you are unsuccessful in your STF application, or the grant provided does not cover all costs associated with the internship program
  • have a proven interest in the work and mission of the organisation as evidenced through elective units undertaken, extracurricular activities or work experience and a personal statement

Submit your Internship Endorsement Form and any funding application forms IN HARD COPY to the External Programs Officer located in the Student Services office on Level 1 of the law faculty (building 12), Clayton Campus at least 4 weeks prior to internship commencement date.

You will be advised via phone and/or email by the External Programs Officer if your internship has been endorsed and if you have received and funding through the Student Travel Fund.
