Student eligibility criteria

In order to apply for funding through the Monash Law School Student Travel Fund (STF) you must meet the following faculty eligibility criteria:

  • be enrolled full time in the Bachelor of Laws, any Bachelor of Laws double degree, LLM (LP) or JD programs at Monash University and have at least one unit of your law degree to complete through Monash Law School following the conclusion of the internship program
  • have your internship endorsed by the faculty (see below for details)
  • at the time of the internship have completed at least one full time equivalent year of law and have achieved a minimum credit (60%) average across your law studies
  • have the ability to complete the internship without compromising law studies or examination periods (eg for some internships, you may be required to intermit your law studies)
  • be available on return to commit to marketing and promotional activities, including future use of profiles and reports in marketing material (subject to negotiation with the Faculty Marketing Manager)
  • have not previously received an STF Discretionary Grant from Monash Law School

International student restrictions

International students are not currently permitted to undertake internships during semester due to visa restrictions*. However they may be eligible for internships that fall outside of the semester dates and may therefore apply for funding if they meet the eligibility criteria outlined above.

(*This is a Commonwealth Government policy which is currently under review in consultation between Monash International and the Department of Immigration, Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs.)
