International applications

There are two intakes per year for the Monash JD.

Applications steps

Compile the following supporting documentation:

  • original or certified copies of academic transcripts with evidence of successful completion of your undergraduate degree;
  • evidence that you meet the English language requirements: Overall IELTS of 7.0; with Reading 7.0, Listening 7.0, Writing 7.0 and Speaking 7.0. Paper-based TOEFL 600 (TWE of 5.0); or a Computer-based TOEFL 253 (ER of 5.0) or Internet-based TOEFL Overall: 102 (with Writing 24+, and no other section lower than 20).
  • a detailed resume;

and include this when following  the Step-by-step guide to application .

If you are applying for credit transfer, please include the Credit Transfer Application plus copies of the subject syllabuses.

Students who have accepted their offer will be invited to an Orientation breakfast one or two weeks before course commences.

Application status

Applications are centrally processed on an ongoing basis and any queries regarding the process of your application must be directed to International Recruitment Services.

Supporting documentation

You must submit a current detailed resume and original or original certified copies of your academic transcripts.

You may submit any further documentation that you believe will enhance your application.  If your documentation is in a language other than English, an official certified translation must be provided.  You are not required to submit academic transcripts for courses that you have  completed at Monash University but should instead provide your Monash student number.

Credit transfer

If you have completed postgraduate law studies with another institution, you may apply for credit transfer.  The maximum of credit that can be accepted towards the Monash JD is 16 units.  These may consists of 16 core units (the named units in the Course Structure ) or 15 core units and one elective unit.

When applying for credit transfer, an original or certified copy of your academic results and unit syllabus (units synopsis, assessment, number of hours, textbooks used) for the year the unit was studied is required for all studies not completed at Monash University.

You must submit the Credit Transfer Application with your supporting documentation.
