Single unitsStudents seeking admission to the PDLP, or seeking admission to practice law in Victoria (for example, students who have completed their LLB in another state of Australia or internationally) may be required by the Council of Legal Education (CoLE) to undertake further undergraduate law units (such as Ethics and Professional Responsibility and/or Trust and Office Accounting). This is because CoLE requires graduates to have completed the ‘Priestley 11’ units before they are eligible to practice law in Victoria. Students who have not completed all the ‘Priestley 11’ units required for admission to practice in Victoria can undertake these units through Monash Law School. Students should check with CoLE regarding which units they are required to undertake, and can apply for these units by completing a single unit application form [PDF], and submitting this with your academic transcript and a letter from CoLE stating which units you are required to complete. In addition, for admission in Victoria, students may need to complete Ethics and Professional Responsibility and Trust and Office Accounting. These two units are offered periodically throughout the year. Please contact the PDLP administration for timetabling. List of Monash Law undergraduate units Council of Legal Education Note: While Monash Law may recognise qualifications for entry to the PDLP, it is the Council of Legal Education (CoLE) who determines whether particular Australian or international tertiary qualifications will satisfy the rules for admission to practice in Victoria. Accordingly, it is the responsibility of all persons who wish to practise law and are seeking entry to the PDLP to ensure that their tertiary qualifications comply with Rules 2.01 to 2.02 of the Legal Practice (Admission) Rules 1999, prior to lodging their application for the PDLP. Any undergraduate units required to be completed as specified by CoLE must be undertaken and completed satisfactorily prior to enrolment in the PDLP. |
