Mr Gideon Boas

Gideon Boas is the former senior legal officer for Trial Chamber III of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and was the principal lawyer on the Milosevic case. He worked for the ICTY for eight years, as well as in international humanitarian law for the Red Cross. Gideon has a Master of Laws in international criminal law and a revision of his PhD on the Milosevic trial for the conduct of complex international criminal proceedings will be published in 2007. He teaches the graduate course on ICTY practice and procedure at Leiden University in the Netherlands and is senior editor of The Hague International Tribunals/ICTY section of the Leiden Journal of International Law. He has published two books of essays on international human rights and humanitarian law and is co-authoring a two-volume series on international criminal law to be published by Cambridge University Press in 2007/8.
