Confirmation of Candidature

It is University policy that all higher degree by research (HDR) students are initially enrolled on a probationary basis.

Doctoral candidates (PhD and SJD) will have their candidature confirmed after 12 months of full time enrolment and after 24 months of part time enrolment. 

Masters degree candidates (MPhil and LLM (Research)) will have their candidature confirmed after 6 months of  full time enrolment and after 12 months of  part time enrolment.

Confirmation requires submission of some written work and an oral presentation before an advisory panel of at least three staff members including the supervisor. 

Candidates will be notified by the Monash Research Graduate School and also the Faculty when the confirmation is due to take place.
