Policy for Granting IT Access to Lapsed HDR Candidates

The following policy to grant IT access to lapsed HDR candidates was endorsed by the Faculty’s Research Committee at its meeting no. 7/07 held on 30 October 2007 and approved by the Faculty’s Executive Committee at its meeting no. 21/07 held on 12 November 2007.

  • A request to gain IT access can be made by lapsed candidates to their supervisors.
  • Approval can be given by the HDR Convenor based on the recommendation of the supervisor.
  • A lapsed candidate whose request is approved will be appointed as a “Monash affiliate” for a period of six months at a time.  No staff card or email address will be provided for this purpose.  The total period of this type of appointment will not exceed 3 years.  Approval of each renewal depends on the student’s progress and support from the supervisor.
  • This access requires authcate username and password for viewing and downloading materials online only.  It does not cover entitlement to borrow publications in printed form.
  • Lapsed students who have outstanding reports, fees, equipment items on loan which have not been returned to the University are not eligible.
